Meet Your Spring Eye Doctors
Dr. Phong Pham, O.D., grew up in Houston, Texas, where he was inspired to enter the field of Optometry by the owner of Texas State Optical. Pouncing on his dreams, Dr. Pham received his Bachelor of Science and his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston. While in school, Dr. Pham received the Clinical Excellence Award as a Sophomore, and graduated with Honors. Dr. Pham has been working in the Optometry field since 1999, with his first job being a lab technician/Optician with TSO. Dr. Pham specializes in a wide range of eye care specialties, including dry eye, diabetes, Hypertensive Retinopathy, Glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, pediatrics and Ocular diseases. As an eye doctor, Dr. Pham especially enjoys working with young children. Outside of the office, Dr. Pham enjoys playing golf, basketball and football, and is exploring ways to open a charity for kids with visual needs. Dr. Pham is married, and hopes to have ten kids in the future!
Dr. Joanne Kim grew up in Irvine, California in a Korean-American family and speaks Korean fluently. Dr. Kim graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and was recognized in the National Honors Society. She moved to the great state of Texas to pursue her interest in optometry and later received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. She is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and is certified as a Glaucoma Specialist.
Dr. Kim had clinical training at Good Neighbor Clinic in Houston. Dr. Kim’s interests include the treatment of ocular disease such as dry eye disease, acute illnesses, post op surgical care, vision correction surgery, pediatrics, geriatrics, specialty contact lenses, and diabetic retinopathy. She is passionate about volunteer work and giving back to the community and has participated in several community service programs. Some of her favorite volunteer experiences include a Mission trip to Mexico and at Houston’s Outreach Medicine Education and Social Services (H.O.M.E.S) Clinic, both where she was able to provide eye care to a population of people who otherwise would not be able to receive proper eye care. She is also an active participant in the city of Houston’s See to Succeed program providing eye care to children in need of eye exams and glasses. Dr. Kim is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.
When Dr. Kim is not working at Texas State Optical, she enjoys spending time with her friends, boyfriend and their dogs; they have a German Pinscher, Axis, who is 5 years old and a very hyper rescue, Bella, who is 3 years old. Dr. Kim tries to stay active by going to the gym and enjoys doing bikram yoga. She loves being outdoors and enjoys hiking, going to the beach and snowboarding. She loves to travel when she gets the chance to, especially to California to visit her family, and would like to have visited every continent one day.

Meet Your Spring Eye Care Team
Samantha grew up in San Antonio Texas and has lived in Kingwood for 14 years. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. When visiting our office you can find her greeting you with a smile at the front desk. She can help you out by scheduling your appointment, verifying insurance and even helping you pick out the perfect frame. Whatever it is you need, she will be with you every step of the way. Samantha generally cares about patients and their needs. Making you feel comfortable and confident is her number one priority. Outside of work Samantha likes to go to the gym when she has time, take her dogs to the park and catch up with friends and family.
Originally from the Houston area, now living in the Montgomery area, Pedro graduated from CHS Summa Cum Laude and now currently holds a 3.86 GPA at Sam Houston State University awaiting his Bachelors in Nursing. Having stumbled upon the optical field he fell in love with the craft and has ever since decided to pursue his OD in Optometry. His background in the medical field gives Pedro the opportunity to help patients at TSO in the most personal way possible. You can always find him greeting/checking-in patients, helping patients find the perfect frame around the store or dispensing work orders at pickup. He enjoys the privilege to assist patients, develop and train his team at their work and contributing knowledge of eye wear to as many patients as possible.
Isabel was born in Orlando, Florida but has lived in Kingwood, Texas for 14 years. She graduated from Kingwood High School and is currently studying Biomedical Engineering and is looking forward to finishing her undergrad at Rice University. Isabel is very interested in the optical field and hopes to obtain her Doctorate from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in the future. Isabel brings 2 years of customer service to this office. You can find her assisting patients with scheduling appointments and running preliminary testing’s to help the doctor.
